This girl was one of the youngest models in the first African Fashion Week NY, July 2010. Selia might be young, but she is willing to give a 150% to every make it in the fashion industry.

Selia: In your fourteen years of age, who was the one who discovered you as a model?

I was discovered in Wilmington, by her gym teacher wife. She entered me in Philadelphia Fashion Week when I was twelve years old; at the time I was 5'101/2. They were very surprised to see a 5'10 twelve year old that could walk the runway with no training.

How was your experience with Andre Leon Talley and Laura Smalls?

I was sent this casting info in late Aug 2009. Andre Leon Talley spotted me out in a room of about 150 other models.

He said I had an exotic look about because of my hazel eyes, then when he found out I was 13 then he got so excited, and said I was a mixture of Tyra, and Naomi.

He knew his business, called the correct people because they were changing the ages of models who can work in New York Fashion Week to 14, but he made it happen.

At the show he was so nice. He said I could go far once I turned 14. My mother has been in contact with him. He is now contacting other designer he knows to tell them about me for NYFW s/s 2011.

Tell me about your job with Shekhar Rahate and Courtney Washington

" I was hand picked on Facebook by Shekhar casing director Raylette Smith of Lemonde Manangement. When she saw me she just wanted me in the show", she said.

"The day of the show Shekhar was impressed how much experience I had on a runway. Because of my age, he doing NYFW this year, and I will be one of his models", she recalled.

When I worked with Courtney Washington it was for the Fashion Exchange (FAX) company on June 17, 2010. The show was held at FIT, there were ten designers, I worked with nine including Mathew Cashe but Courtney Washington was the closing designer for this event, and he was also given an award by the FAX committee. Courtney chose his models the day of the show, and out of 25 models he chose me to wear his finally gown. The show was amazing every one love the way the gown flowed on me. It was sold that night. Courtney is a great designer he showed special attention to me and all the other models, he makes sure all his peices fit perfectly on each model. It was a honor working with him.

Have you thought about dedicating your life into modeling? Don't you think its hard?

I love modeling, whether runway or print, I want to part of the fashion industry for a while like Tyra Banks and Naomi Campbell. I know its hard, and that there is a lot of competition in the field, but I always give all I have at each casting, and if I’m not picked, well I'm off to the next one.

What has been your best experience in a runway?

NYFW working with Andre Leon Talley and Laura Smalls.

What does your family think about the career that you have chosen?

Well my mother is by my side 200%, my stepfather there too, my sister, brothers, aunts and cousins cant wait to see me in magazines or a billboard on Time Square.

Have you thought about going to college?

I want to attend Fashion Instititute of Technology

Who are your favorite designers?

My favorite Designers are Betsy Johnson, Vera Wang, and the late Alexander McQueen

Which brands do you feel comfortable with?

I like casual, comfortable clothes, like the Gap, and Old Navy.

Finally, what do you think about Couture Fashion Week of New York?

I have worked with anyone in Couture Fashion Week yet, but I know some designers who showed their lines. My mother has submitted my info but no call from them yet. I would love to work with (Andres Aquino) the producer of Couture Fashion Week.
