On the other hand Elizabeth Arnau Couture is a luxurious haute couture line dressing a classy, elegant and sophisticated woman. Red carpet gowns, evening dresses for exclusive events and taylored suits.

Her past collections were an inspiration source to some actual fashion trends. Her autumn-winter collection named “Black tears” presented a mithologyc women with fantastic characters printed in the clothes, middle age volumes and romantic slaves.

Also the spring summer collection “Sixties babies” marked the revival of the sixties dot fabrics, the shorts, babydoll and the dress lenght under the knees.

Elizabeth Arnau, one of spanish most talented upcoming fashion designers, completed in 2002 her studies in design and pattern at Barcelona's Institut Catala de la Moda.

Apparel & Textiles spoke with this talented designer whom we have the honor to present to our readers today.

A&T: What are your thoughts regarding the pattern that must be broken in design, one which causes an impact, that sells, and that makes everyone want to wear it?

EA: When I design I just try to create new trends not follow any comercial style which is already selling. My basis when designing are always try to make an original but wearable garment, I think so that this balance is one of the secrets of the success of the collections.

Many times I see very beautiful dresses which are just a piece of art but its not wearable because their extravaganze. Under my opinion this is just for a show in the runway and catch the eye.

I also see that in fashion we are rescuing styles from the past all the time, but there are not big changes in this, its just an eternal revival. Now there are very few designers who take the risk of a real innovation, they worry too much to be comercial and fit the like of the people.

A&T: Each design is a work of art, and it is obvious that a sophisticated and glamorous dress is made to be worn for a special occasion. What kind of market do these designs have with respect to the ones people buy for daily use?

EA: My designs are made for every occasions not only for special events. We range daily wear which is more casual and the evening dress for special events.

A&T: Finally, what are you projections for the future with respect to a line of accessories that bear your name?

EA: Hopefully one day, but now we prefer to focus in the womenswear. Actually I am very attracted to the idea of start a children's line and it maybe will be in a near future.
