Lesley, ready! We start in five minutes! The runway coordinator screams and it´s time to get on your feet and begin the walk to the entrance to the runway and wait for your turn to enter the fashion show. The light at the end indicates that all eyes are on you , and the applause can already be heard. The show begins!~We know that you have been modeling since the age of 10. Can you tell us about your work during that time?
Over the past years I have been in numerous modeling shows and some print as well. But the runway is definitely my strong point and what I work on all the time.
~When you have a challenge in your hands, do you consider that as a thing to abandon, or take a step forward?
When I have a challenge I always take a step forward. You can´t learn anything by abandoning what your given but going forward you have an opportunity to learn and grow as a model and person.
~When you are about to walk in a runway, what is the first thing that goes through your mind?
The first thing that goes through my mind would definitely be excitement. There is always that burst of energy that is waiting to say, "this is the moment you live for and love." I'm always a bit nervous and wanting to do well, but the excitement always takes over and says, "you go girl, rock it!"
~ Once you start modeling and changing clothes immediately you go in, how do you deal with your insecurity?
That is one thing that you learn show by show. Usually, there are people helping you change behind the runway and things are going too fast to look. You have to remember that you have to get on that runway because people are counting on you and that once the model before you gets off you must go on. I imagine the level of insecurity is different for each girl but I always remember that people are not there to look at you behind the current but look at the cloths on you when your on the runway.
~ Have you ever had an accident in any of the runways?
HaHa!, No I have not and I'm very thankful for that. I think that practice helps with that. Purchasing different size heels and practicing in them helps with that tremendously.
~ How do you manage your personal relations with the other models ?
Viewing your fellow models as competition is never good. I have numerous friends that are models and will always want them to do well.
~ What reason would you have to disagree with a designer?
The only time I would disagree with a designer would be if the clothing did not cover certain places on my body and I was not told about it. I try to work with designers that are tasteful and classy this way we agree on everything. I'm very fortunate that I have not run into a disagreement with a designer as of yet. But, It also helps to be open and honest about everything that way there are no surprise disagreements on either end.
